Fashion world in 2013 is at the top of creativity. Sure, in the years to come creativity will probably grow again but right now, style in fashion is equal to what visionaries had imagined in futuristic movies or in comic books.

We live in a prosperous era for fashion. Originality is at it’s top. Cosmetic products are diversified and of first quality. Clothes are stylish and offer so much choice in so many different styles. And how about shoes? We never saw as much style in shoes. Spectacular. Women are really lucky to benefit from all those incredible items to help them to feel more beautiful. (more…)

Leather: Not Just for Bikers Anymore

Thursday, November 15th, 2012

If you are a fashionista, (or are trying to look like one) you know that keeping up with the current styles and trends can become a bit overwhelming and very costly. Styles change so quickly that the time you invest in the new “look”, the style has already become yesterday’s news. Chances are the new hair crimper you bought for the 80’s fabulous trend that was making the headlines (Gag me with a spoon!) a while back is most likely collecting dust next to the feather extensions hidden under your sink.

It doesn’t have to be that way. In fact, if you look closely you will see that in every season there seems to be one type of clothing/style/material that always seems to make its way to the forefront. In this case the item making an encore appearance is leather.

Leather Fashion Trends 2012

Winter 2012 is bringing back leather in all its leathery glory. From biker style motorcycle jackets to slimming pencil skirts, this season proves that leather isn’t only for the rough-ridin’ biker gang or the dominatrix anymore; in fact, the girl next door can rock leather pants with a soft cashmere sweater and look sweet and edgy at the same time.

Chloe of the blog TheSweetlySour.com, Guest Blogs: Personal Style.. Are we Born with it or Do We Take Charge of Our Own Fashion Destiny??

Thursday, September 6th, 2012

Apparently, there’s some scientific debate about the genetics of personal style. Is a person born with a particular aesthetic? Are we predestined to be either supremely stylish or entirely frumpy?
Well, you can believe that, or you can decide to take your personal style into your own hands. Trust me, I wasn’t pulled from the womb wearing polka dots. The difference between fashion inspiration and personal style isn’t your genes – it’s knowing where to start, and plunging in.

Fashion for the Petite Female. Sandy Kutchinsky Shares Advice and Fashion Tips for the Petite Women

Thursday, July 19th, 2012

Petite fashion advice is sometimes hard to come by.  UNLESS, you follow today’s guest blogger Sandy Kutchinsky on Twitter, @sandykutchinsky, or check out her blog www.petite-panache.com.  In this fashbo guest blog piece, Sandy doles out petite fashion advice that works for her and can work for anyone looking for fashion tips for petite women. ~f1

Being very petite in height and build, I like to wear small, elegant pieces that don’t overwhelm me. I love little black dresses, slim trousers, skinny jeans, jeggings and leggings. I’m careful with skirt lengths and always try to make my legs look as long as possible. The most flattering shoes are pointed toe, slim heeled court shoes, ballerinas and boots that are not too heavy and give a continuous look. I tend to buy updated versions of similar pieces but wear them in a new way with fashionable accessories and makeup.

Each season, I look at the shows and collections by my favourite designers for inspiration. I then build my own collection with inexpensive pieces from my favourite high street shops like Topshop and H&M and clothes that I already have in my wardrobe. I do buy some expensive makeup though and invest sometimes in designer shoes.

CHANEL

I wear Chanel No. 5 perfume and their makeup and look forward to seeing the new Autumn/Winter colours that will be out later in August. I love the way they painted the nails in pink and silver at their recent Haute Couture show. I am influenced by their style, the way they accessorize, their bags and their jackets.

Discover your Personal Style in Five Simple Steps. A Guest Blog Post from Elle Fabulous

Wednesday, July 18th, 2012

Today’s guest blog comes from Elle Fabulous,  @leElleFabulous.  Elle has some great advice on focusing on what is important when choosing your fashion looks.  My favorite take-away from her post, be yourself! ~f1

—–>
There was no room to pack my usual dual large suitcases for a summer promotional tour. Limited to the necessities, I challenged myself to the unthinkable: under pack. There was just no room for the countless options typically worn based on fleeting mood or conditional trend. I was only to take what made me feel beautiful and comfortable in my own skin.

“Getting ready ought to be this simple everyday,” I thought upon the end of the two- week stretch.

When I returned home I followed five simple steps that transformed my closet from an overstuffed fashion vault to the uber chic wardrobe of Elle Fabulous.

Step 1: Take it back to basics.
Be mindful of the way fabric is cut on a garment. Straight and simple lines are the most figure flattering and versatile. Also, embrace clothing in black, primary colors and shades of grey as they work for all skin tones and all seasons.

Step 2: Quality over quantity.
Of the 15 pairs of jeans in your closet, how many do you actually wear? Chances are, you’re holding on to a few (or 10) items that no longer work for you but are simply sentimental or wishful thinking, like the return of leggings with stirrups. Try taking a full length photo of duplicate items selecting only the most praise-worthy choices.

Step 3: A good tailor makes all the difference.
No doubt there will be closet gems in need of a little nip tuck here and there. If the item in question is of impeccable quality, paying for alterations is the ideal option. The end result of a minor monetary and time investment is customized one of a kind apparel that will make you look like a million bucks.

Step 4: Add personal touch with “Peacock Pieces”
Peacock pieces are your statement items. It can be a full outfit like a little black dress or complimentary like a pair of killer heels or a handbag. Every outfit deserves a “notice me” accent. From the perfect fit jeans, cocktail rings or red lipstick, allow your inner voice to speak throughout your wardrobe as this is what makes your personal style come alive. What do you want your style to say about you?

Step 5: So what! Who cares?!
It doesn’t matter if you don’t have a closet full of designer goods or if your attire isn’t in sync with the trends. Being yourself is what is most fashionable.
“Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say and not giving a damn.” –Gore Vidal

Suffering for Fashion – The World’s Most Uncomfortable Clothing

Friday, July 13th, 2012

It’s no secret that we women have to suffer for our favourite fashion. I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve wished I could just throw on a pair of jeans and some ballet pumps for
a night out. But because I enjoy wearing the latest trends I force my feet into towering heels and squeeze myself into my magic knickers to fit into a new dress.

Most men can’t understand why we put ourselves through so much to look good – and half the time I don’t either – but it seems us girls are destined to a lifetime of uncomfortable
clothing.

This isn’t a new thing – corsets date back hundreds of years and in the Victorian era, women were so restricted by the tight corsets they had to wear to get an hourglass shape that they
often fainted.

Thankfully this is one trend that’s died out, but here’s a few current looks that will definitely have you breathing a sigh of relief when you swap them for your comfy pyjamas in the
evening.

1. Skinny jeans

Ahh skinny jeans. On stars like Kate Moss, The Saturdays and Sienna Miller they lengthen their legs and make them paparazzi-ready in an instant. On us, they pinch, squeeze and have
us struggling to sit down without wriggling around uncomfortably for long periods of time.

The problem is, skinny jeans look great for both day and night and can be teamed with loads of stuff, it’s just a shame they’re so uncomfortable! And don’t even get me started on trying
to peel them off at the end of the day.

2. Oversized bags

They may look great, but there’s nothing worse than going on a shopping trip with your favourite oversized bag only to find your arms are ready to drop off after the first couple of
stores because it’s so heavy. Plus, using a really weighty bag puts strain on your back and neck, so you’re also risking your health. If you’re going to carry a big bag don’t overfill it and make sure the weight is manageable.

3. Super-high heels

Following the Chanel Resort 2012 show, Canadian model Meghan Collison revealed her feet were sore and bleeding after she strutted her stuff in a pair of Perspex heels for the
designer brand. This is a tale us women know all too well and high heels are definitely one of the main offenders when it comes to uncomfortable fashion.

There’s not much we women aren’t willing to try to look good – if only it was a bit comfier!
