While attending Parsons the new school for design, we had some time to just fool around with some muslin to drape on a dress form. This was my first time draping and this is what came out of it!
One of the reasons I love working with this web site is coming across surprising gems like this look that bubble to the surface. This photo has had more page views than any other on Fashbo.com and was a look created in "free time", "just fooling around"
Thank you everyone! nichancraftroom, it is actually quite inexpensive! Muslin is about $2 dollars a yard and while fooling around on the dress form, I used about 5 yards, but that is because I was unsure of what I was going to create and started to tear and drape, then redo. If I went into the project knowing exactly what I was going to design, then it would have taken less! That is why I have learned draping to be fun and exciting because you can create your ideas right onto the dress from from your own ideas or inspirations! For this project, we had a a few hours in the day to create it, but just imagine all of the things that you could come up with if you had more time! followed by a pattern, then a garment! Fabulous!
Hey, how did you create that look, is that like creating a really really long strip of flower/ rose and attaching it to a bodice? hmm will try this out :)
